Six tips on buying a car in Dubai

Here are the top tips on buying a car in Dubai and the UAE. Whether you are looking for brand new cars or used cars, the quality in the city is the same in other parts of the world.

1. Do your homework first

Whether you are buying a brand new car or used car, we recommend you to find out as much as you can and check out reviews, dealers, and even go to the showroom and test drive. Dubai is a great place to buy a car and agents are very friendly and accommodating.

2. Stick to your gut feeling

It’s not a necessity to buy a sports car if you have a family to support back home in the Philippines. If you are going to use it for travel between your residence and workplace only, think about which car would suit you best. Work out exactly what the requirements of your next gem- that is your car. Ask yourself, what do I want to do with the car? What am I going to use it for?

3. Choose your car

You need to look into the whole perspective when buying a car. You have to keep in mind the long-term costs involved that include insurance, servicing costs, repayments and more.

4. Think of depreciation in relation to money

In my previous article, I mentioned top car companies with good depreciation value in Dubai. So keep in mind that a lot of people come and go in Dubai. You can compare prices between the new and secondhand cars.

5. Research on the best bank offering the lowest rate

Banking in Dubai is different than banking back in the Philippines. It is much less daunting and the paperwork is pretty straightforward. You might want to opt for the current bank where your salary is being transferred as it has less paperwork to do. The good thing about buying a car in Dubai is there will always be an option to not give a payment in advance. You can work this out with your agent if you prefer not to drop a deposit.

6. Look for the best discounts and deals

Ramadan is the best time to buy a new car in Dubai in my experience. I was able to avail a very good deal. If you plan to buy secondhand cars in Dubai then go directly to the car dealer as they might have couple of cars on sale. You can also opt for car classifieds online and make sure you speak directly to the owner and get a chance see and drive the car you want to buy.

Tip: there will always be expatriates who are moving out of the country so you might want to check them too!
