Group of OFWs exempted to OEC

As reported, the Philippine government will start a trial scheme for exempting a group of Filipino workers returning to the same employer and listed on the electronic database of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

For those who have changed employers in Dubai and the UAE or converted their tourist visa to employment visa, an OEC must be obtained and appointment with any POEA office and processing centre is required.

The Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte initiated the pilot scheme to streamline the process for Filipino Workers abroad.

How Do I Know If I’m Covered In The Exemption?

  • Log in on www.bmonline.ph and complete the registration.

  • Make sure your profile is updated.

This will then be forwarded to the Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines, clearing the OFW on processing fee payment.

The scheme will start on 15th September 2016 and will run the trial for 30 days. After one month, the POEA board will review if this will work or they will revert back or improve the old system.
